2008 Porsche 911 GT2 Front End Stats | Car Reviews

Price est.: $192,000

HP: 530 @ 6,500

As Porsche’s most powerful U.S. sold production car to date, the 911 GT2 is revered by sports car lovers worldwide. One feat that Porsche has accomplished with the GT2 is that this car has successfully combined a stunning design and appearance with optimal performance. Unfortunately, with a price tag just under $200,000… few can afford this modern marvel of technology; which makes sighting this car on the road a rarity. To increase your chances of seeing this beauty in action, look for stressed-out, over-worked doctors recklessly speeding through hospital parking lots and cutting off traffic as they make their way home.

So what does the fastest 911 ever produced for road use offer buyers…? As noted above 530 horsepower and 6,500 rpm and just over 500 foot pounds of torque, that launches the 3,000 plus pound vehicle from 0 – 60 quicker than most motorcycles. Much of this feat is accomplished using the GT2’s Variable Turbine Geometry system, which is a fancy name for Porsche’s latest turbocharger. The system has flow-optimized turbines with large compressors which generate higher boost levels, even at low rpm.

2008 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Supercharged Stats | Car Reviews

Price est.: $72,400

HP: 390 @ 5,750

Torque: 410 @ 3,500

0-60 mph: 6.6 seconds

¼ mile: 15.0 seconds

So much better looking than Land Rovers of the ‘90s! Fortunately for consumers Land Rover, along with Saab and many other European auto manufacturers, finally decided to replace their finely tuned ugly-ass vehicles with a body-style much more aesthetic. As everyone knows, Land Rover has built the finest sport utility vehicle (SUV) dating back many decades; but until recently no one wanted to be seen driving such a grotesque box-shaped vehicle that appeared to belong in the heart of Africa waiting to be boarded for some elephant hunting tourist’s safari.

The Supercharged Range Rover isn’t necessarily built for high speeds or handling tight corners, even though its name would suggest so. It will accelerate off the line fairly quickly, taking its passengers from zero to sixty in only 6.6 short seconds. While this statistic doesn’t necessarily compare with similarly priced sports cars, being taken to sixty miles per hour that quickly, in a large vehicle, definitely is exciting.

Land Rovers are known for their reliability and capability to steadily perform under extreme conditions—terrain and weather. Jeremy Clarkson once drove up the side of Mount Tongue, in Scotland, in a Land Rover! Granted he got stuck in bog terrain a couple times and used a built-on winch to get out, but I can pretty much guarantee that few SUVs would have lasted five minutes into the expedition.

Why buy a Land Rover? Better yet, why buy a Land Rover Range Rover Sport Supercharged? Because… you want the ability of a four-by-four with the aspiration of a sports car, all in one. The Range Rover Sport is ideal for active outdoorsmen (and women). If you enjoy camping, off road exploration, or tow a boat or ATV, and at the same time don’t want any lack of performance when overtaking another vehicle on the freeway; the Range Rover Sport Supercharged is ideal for you!
